About Pedro

Pedro (Peter Mabrey) lives and operates the 23-ft super panga “Adry” out of La Paz. He is originally from Ann Arbor Michigan, where he spent the first 21 years of his life. Pedro’s passion for fishing was inspired at age five when he hooked his first fish, a 10-inch rainbow trout in a creek in Swoope, VA on a tree branch, a short piece of fishing line, a bent safety pin and a redworm.

From that day on, he has pursued his love of the sport of fishing and never passed up a chance to wet a line. Having moved to California after graduation from the University of Michigan in 1981, he began exploring saltwater fishing and it became a life changing endeavor. Halibut, yellowtail, seasonal tuna, marlin, rockfish, you name it, he was chasing them all.

Through a chance meeting with a work associate’s father, Pedro was invited to spend a few days fishing in Loreto, BCS Mexico. It was his first opportunity to see what the Sea of Cortez had to offer and it hooked him on Baja for good! Pedro took his first trip to Cabo San Lucas in 2011 and again, he would never forget the moment he and his guide rounded “El Arco” and crossed into the pacific, immediately hooking a 25-lb Jack Crevalle. That day ended up with three yellowfin tuna after a short move to the Sea of Cortez side.

Hooked on one of the “Sportfishing Capitals of the World”, Pedro traveled at least once a year to Cabo San Lucas to fish, but it was in 2020, when he met his life partner, Adriana, he was introduced to La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur. He and Adriana found a beautiful home in the Playa La Posada neighborhood of La Paz and began making plans to operate a fishing charter business and that is how it all started with the Adry.

Pedro is looking forward to meeting you and giving you the opportunity to experience the Sea of Cortez and the fishing it has to offer through his eyes. He believes you will come to love it as much as he does!
