Adry is a 23-ft Van Díaz Super Panga. She has recently been repowered with a 2023 Yamaha 115hp outboard engine. This upgrade increases fuel efficiency and fishing range.Comfort and safety are our main goals in taking you to the fish and bringing you back to port. There is plenty of room in the bow and stern for your fishing pleasure. A live bait tank keeps the sardines or mackerel you will be using depending on the species targeted fresh and lively! Known locally as a “fishy boat”, you will be impressed with her ability to find the fish and bring them onboard!

Pedro (Peter Mabrey) lives in La Paz and operates the 23-ft super panga “Adry.” He is originally from Ann Arbor Michigan, where he spent the first 21 years of his life. Pedro’s passion for fishing was inspired at age five when he hooked his first fish, a 10-inch rainbow trout in a creek in Swoope, VA on a tree branch, a short piece of fishing line, a bent safety pin and a redworm.

Having moved to California after graduation from the University of Michigan in 1981, he began exploring saltwater fishing and it became a life changing endeavor. Halibut, yellowtail, seasonal tuna, marlin, rockfish, you name it, he was chasing them all. He credits legendary captains Nick Cates and Buzz Brizendine for mentoring him during his years fishing on San Diego sportboats.

In 1994, Pedro was invited to, and accepted an invitation to spend a few days fishing in Loreto, BCS Mexico. It was his first opportunity to fish the Sea of Cortez and it hooked him on Baja for good! Pedro took his first trip to Cabo San Lucas in 2011 and again, he would never forget the moment he and his guide rounded “El Arco” and crossed into the Pacific, immediately hooking a 25-lb Jack Crevalle. That day ended up with three yellowfin tuna after a short move to the Sea of Cortez side.

In 2020 he met his life partner, Adriana and was introduced to La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur. He and Adriana found a beautiful home in the Playa La Posada neighborhood of La Paz and began making plans to operate a fishing charter business and that is how it all started with the Adry.

Pedro is looking forward to meeting you and giving you the opportunity to experience the Sea of Cortez and the fishing it has to offer through his eyes. He believes you will come to love it as much as he does!

December to April: We fish for yellowtail (Jurel) one of the hardest fighting fish in the Sea of Cortez with deep water feeding habits and bulldog tactics that will test your strength and determination. Amberjack (Pez Fuerte) are also found among the spots that hold Yellowtail and are nicknamed “Reef Donkeys” for their stubbornness in coming to the boat. Both species are highly desirable table fare! Dog-tooth (Cubera) Snapper and Pargo are also caught during the winter season. Both deep water vertical jigging and live bait are used during this season.

April to June: Warming waters brings an influx of Bonito (known locally as white meat tuna), Roosterfish, and dorado. You will fish with both lures and live bait for these excellent eating species.

July to November: The water really heats up and it happens fast! Dorado, are joined by Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna and Wahoo. Water temperatures typically range from 80 to 86 degrees. In addition to dorado being an almost guaranteed catch, both Blue and Black Marlin move into our waters, bringing with them a chance for you to hook and fight a trophy fish of a lifetime that you will never forget and will be telling stories about for years to come! Fishing technique during the summer and fall season consists of trolling lures while watching for jumping fish and birds. When a school is located, live bait keeps the fish near the boat and biting!
